Biographical Statement
Growing up in a Christian community on the banks of the Suwannee River, as a child of a pastor and a nurse, I was taught caring and community service at an early age. As a young prosecutor I was taught that nothing is more important than truth and honor to care for and serve our communities.
I received a scholarship to attend Emory University, where I met a wonderful woman. My beautiful wife Lisa was my college sweetheart and is my best friend. We have been blessed with two beautiful girls.
For the last twenty years I have had the special honor of pursuing my passion every day: just and fair treatment of all people. I have seen the heartbreak in the wake of violence, and know how our courts, and especially our prosecutors, can stand up for victims. Their strength changes lives. I have also seen the redemptive power of a second chance and how mercy from the courts sometimes strengthens people.
Our communities are built on the foundation of people being free from crime and graft. There is no greater support that you can give a community than to stop victimization and give offenders the chance to return productively back to the workforce. These have been my daily task at our prosecutorial workbench.
Prosecutors must note that we serve our community just as importantly and just as effectively by taking steps to avoid recurrence of crime. A huge percentage of modern criminal behavior arises from defendants already within the criminal community. We must be careful and attentive to take steps that reduce recidivism: both by freeing our neighborhoods of predators and by giving a real, honest chance to those non-violent offenders who are truly desirous.
I am strongly committed to the bedrock values of integrity, decency, and honor. Those core values drive the structure and culture of the office we strive to create. We are committed to the just and careful use of all governmental resources. We have the strength, integrity, and experience to move forward in a powerful way.
